10 Days Uganda and Tanzania Safari – Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Drive to Kibale National Park & Spend The Afternoon at Leisure.

Following breakfast, you set off for the drive to Kibale National Park 326km about 6 – 7 hours drive. You explore the beautiful scenic landscapes en route including the sights of Mubende Inselbergs, the green vegetation cover, Lake Wamara at a distance, towns, and local settlements not forgetting the magnificent tea estates close to Fort Portal town. You settle for lunch in Fort Portal town after which you proceed to Kibale National Park to spend the rest of the day at leisure. An optional hike to Fort Portal crater field and a visit to the Amabere g’Nnyinamwiru caves can be arranged. This is an impressive cultural experience coupled with amazing scenic views. The breast-like features are believed to be the breasts of Nyinamwiru the daughter of Bukuku – the self enthroned King of the Bachwezi who denied her daughter to breastfeed her son in fear that he might take over the throne from him. The hike to Fort Portal Crater field offers remarkable views of the crater lakes and crater hollows and the Rwenzori Mountains. Retire for dinner and overnight

Day 2: Chimpanzee Habituation Experience

Following an early breakfast, gather at Kanyanchu tourism center as early as 6 am to catch up with a briefing about the Chimpanzee Habituation conduct. You set out to the forest in the company of the armed Uganda Wildlife Authority ranger guides. The trek through the moist tropical forest of Kibale at dawn is very soothing before catching with the chimpanzees as they set out of their nests to begin the day. It is a whole day with Chimpanzees enjoying them as they copulate, hunt, play, and make pant hooting calls. At around 7 pm, the Chimpanzees set to craft new nests after which you will return to the starting point to mark the end of the experience.

Day 3: Drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Ishasha Sector Game Drive in Search of Tree Climbing Lions Can be Arranged as an Extra

Following breakfast, embark on the drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park enjoying the amazing scenic views of the Rwenzori Mountains rising to 5,109m above sea level standing as the third highest in Africa with snow-capped peaks and the open Savannah grassland and woodland in Queen Elizabeth National Park. An optional game drive in the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth NP – Ishasha sector can be arranged to gain possibilities of viewing tree climbing lions along with other wild game. Proceed to Bwindi for relaxation, dinner, and overnight.

Day 4: Undertake Mountain Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park & Spend The Evening at Leisure

Apparently ranked the best safari activity in Africa, Mountain Gorilla Trekking brings you in contact with the world’s critically endangered Mountain Gorillas part of the Great Big Ape species close to humans in terms of DNA. Briefing commences at 8 am after which you head to the mist forest in the company of the armed Uganda Wildlife Authority ranger guides traversing the steep slopes, narrow valleys, dense forest tracts, and river streams in search of the gorillas. The time spent with the gorillas is limited to one hour for purposes of conservation while the whole trekking experience can last between 2 – 8 hours. The picturesque opportunities and the themed interpretation of these Species will form a lasting memory of your African safari. Retreat from the activity and connect to the lodge spending the afternoon at leisure.

Day 5: Transfer by Flight From Bwindi to Entebbe & Proceed by Flight Transfer to Kilimanjaro

Transfer to Kisoro Airstrip for a scheduled Aero link flight to Entebbe International Airport setting off at 9 am and landing at 11 am. You keep around Entebbe waiting to board a connecting flight to Kilimanjaro Airport. Upon landing, you will be picked up by our Tanzanian representative to transfer to Arusha town for relaxation, dinner, and overnight.

Day 6: Drive to Lake Manyara National Park, Explore The Mto Wa Mbu & do The Game Drive in The Afternoon

Following breakfast, transfer to Lake Manyara National Park 130km about 2 ½ hour’s drive enjoying the views of the countryside landscapes. A visit to Mto Wa Mbu Eco-community offers the opportunity to learn more about the ethnic diversity in this village including the people themselves, local foods and their preparation, local beer brewing process, art and crafts such as Makonde Wood carvings among others. The afternoon is dedicated to a game drive experience with chances of exploring tree-climbing lions, the Zebras, Warthog, Giraffes, elephants, the Impala, Hippos, and Wildebeest. Settle for overnight.

Day 7: Drive to Serengeti National Park & Undertake a Game Drive in The Evening

Drive to Serengeti National Park with its highest concentration of wildlife in Africa. With Millions of Wildebeest, hundreds of thousands of Zebras and Thompson Gazelle, other great populations of Elands, Lions, Leopards, Cheetah, Kongoni, Grants gazelle, and Impala. You do a game drive upon entering the park enjoying the sunset views over the Savannah and the wild game before proceeding to the lodge for overnight.

Day 8: A day in Serengeti National Park – Africa’s Largest Wildlife Concentrated Park

Seronera Valley to the center of the park offers a great wild game viewing experience. The drive-in this area after breakfast comes along with chances of viewing millions of grazers like Wildebeest, Zebras, Gazelles, Buffaloes, elephants, Elands among others while the range of predators like the Lions, Cheetah, Leopard, Hyenas, and Jackals may not be missed. The lunch is enjoyed on a beautiful rock Kopje and another game drive is conducted in the evening for more wildlife sights.

Day 9: Drive to Ngorongoro Crater, Explore Olduvai Gorge en route & Crater Tour in The Afternoon

You drive to the famous Ngorongoro Crater – the largest unfilled, intact, and inactive volcanic caldera in the world and the World heritage site. You make a stop en route to visit the Olduvai Gorge where the skull of early man was discovered by Dr. Leakey in 1960s making East Africa the cradle land of mankind. You proceed to the crater for an afternoon game drive.

Day 10: Morning Game Drive in Ngorongoro Crater Floor & Drive to Arusha

You descend down the crater whose extensive vegetation and water have supported great counts of wild game including populations of Black Rhinos, great counts of Maasai Lions, Hippos, Buffalo, Elephants, Blue Wildebeest, Thomson Gazelle, Grants Zebra, the water-bucks, Leopards, Common Eland among others. You retreat from the encounter and embark on the drive to Arusha.
