Considered among the oldest Uganda gorilla safari hotels, Travellers’ Rest Kisoro dates far back to the colonial times. The Hotel was in the ownership of Walter Baumgartel by 1955 and became a base for many travelers especially researchers and educationists that were interested in Mountain Gorillas including the famous Dian Fossey.
To meet the standards of contemporary guests, the Travelers’ Rest was renovated entirely in the year 1999 and it currently features a lush modern touch rooted in its colonial heritage making it one of the preferable accommodation units for travelers on Gorilla Trekking Safaris in Uganda.
The Hotel offers a count of twelve (12) reasonably priced rooms set a cool relaxed environment at the back yard of the Virunga Volcanoes – a chain of eight (8) Mountains straddling across Uganda Rwanda and Congo. The guests staying in these rooms are masked lost in their elegant space with the view of the beautiful courtyard.
The restaurant, fire place and Lounge are among the facilities to expect at Travelers Rest Kisoro while planning an Africa Adventure Safari in Uganda. This fire place is very significant in neutralizing coldness as it can be very chilly in the evening.
Travelers Rest Kisoro enjoys a balanced location that enables it to connect to various significant Uganda tour points easily including; Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, Kisoro Airstrip, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Congo’s Virunga National Park, Lake Bunyonyi and Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park.
