The range of forty (40) football enthusiasts from Barcelona Spain have undertaken a safari in Uganda on a privately funded arrangement to walk in the footsteps of the famous Barcelona legends who visited Uganda in 2015.

It can be noted that the Barcelona legends’ visit to the Pearl of Africa has had a profound impact including increasing the nation’s publicity world over and attracting counts of world travelers to take up Uganda Safaris.

The recent visit of these Spaniards in the country is a typical indication of the successful positioning of the country following the Barcelona legends visit.

The FC Barcelona legends visited Uganda from 8^th – 12^th December 2015 an arrangement that was championed by Rayco Garcia one of the legends interested in building a football academy in Uganda along with the country’s main marketing body – the Uganda Tourism Board.

The stay of these historicals that included Patrick Kluivert, Zambrotta, Louis Garcia, Ludovic Guily and Edgar Davids was very successful and memorable prompting them to share their Uganda Safari experience globally and Spain in particular.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Uganda Tourism Board Mr. Stephen Asiimwe is excited about the group’s visit noting that the return on investment has been so quick which is not always the case.

Considering the fact that the legends visited in December but now the country has already stated receiving groups of tourists inspired by the legends visit is very remarkable and profound.

Looking at the figures, assuming every person in the group spends $3500, the destination Uganda will settle with $140,000 on a single visit.

Sports Tourism is one of the successful tourism niches globally and Uganda’s effort to tap into it is welcome.

A range of world sportsmen are now looking at Uganda to support talent development, tournaments and destination promotion.

Uganda tour activities that were engaged in by the FC Legends including white water rafting and gorilla trekking have gained credible attention world over.

The historical match that was played by the legends and the Uganda Cranes at Mandela National Stadium in which Kluivert scored a goal is also a life time event that received credible attention both locally and  Internationally.
