SilverBack Lodge; A Good Base for Gorilla Trekking in Buhoma Bwindi

Positioned on a hill enjoying the panoramic view of the dense hilly forested landscapes of Bwindi dubbed the Impenetrable where the Uganda gorilla trekking safari activity is carried out, Silver-back Lodge offers good accommodation for mid market travelers.

The lodge is close to the Uganda gorilla trekking assembly point Buhoma and guests who prefer walking can actually walk to the starting point.

But since the adventure trek through the rugged landscapes of Bwindi awaits, the vehicle can be used to reserve some energy.

The duration for gorilla trekking remains unpredictable with the interval of 2 – 8 hours depending on the movements of the allocated gorilla group. The travelers on gorilla safaris in Uganda are always briefed about this.

Buhoma region is the pioneer site in the whole of Bwindi where gorilla trekking in Uganda Africa was first conducted following the habituation of Mubare gorilla group 1991 – 1993.

With time, two more gorilla groups were opened up for tracking in this region namely; Rushegura and Habinyanja.

Silverback Lodge is part of the Marasa Luxury lodge collection an establishment which also operates facilities in other Uganda safari parks like Murchison and Queen Elizabeth and in the East Africa safari tour destination of Kenya.

The lodge offers accommodation in twelve (12) rooms including four (4) doubles, seven (7) twins and one (1) Single room.

The lodge was built majorly using local materials including sisal rope, forest vines and purple slate stone which makes it blend with the surroundings.

The lush gardens are ideal for relaxation. The rooms are equipped with hot and cold running water and private veranda that overlook the forest.
