12 Days Uganda Primates Tour Uganda Gorilla Safari Chimpanzee Tour – Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Lake Mburo National Park

You will leave from Kampala to Lake Mburo National Park which is located in the Southern part of Uganda. Before you reach the park, you will have a magnificence of the game drive.

You will arrive in time for a boat ride on Lake Mburo. The wetlands and acacia forests are homes to an impressive variety of antelope including the giant eland and impala.

The lake has a diversity of animal and plant species which will be seen clearly as you are on the boat trip. Expect to watch hippopotami and birds such as Black crake, Heron, cormorant, fish eagle, African Fin foot, Pelicans, you may also see the rare Shoe-bill Stork and all these will furnish your visit with pride.

Accommodation: Dinner and over night stay at Mantana Tented Camp or Rwonyo camp (FB)

Day 2: Game Drives And Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

After taking breakfast, you will be taken for game viewing because the park is well known for its richness in biodiversity.

It has an estimate of 68 different species of mammals like Buffalo, Eland, leopard, Hyenas, jackals, Topi, Impala and Zebra.

The five lakes within the park attract crocodiles, hippos and a variety of water birds, whereas the fringing swamps hide secretive papyrus specialists, like the sitatunga antelope plus red, black and yellow papyrus Gonalek.

After having the view you will head to -Bwindi Forest and on your arrival you will relax while preparing for the following day: Gorilla trekking.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking

You will enter the sanctuary at dawn and have pleasure at the home of the mountain gorillas and beauty freshness of the forest, home of the mountain gorillas.

After a crumb briefing by the experienced guides, you will proceed through dense bush to trek for these harmed animals called the great Apes (Gorillas).

Other primates also live in the forest including the red tail monkey, chimpanzee and black-and-white colobus monkey. Return for accommodation or have an optional community walk.

Day 4: Second Gorilla Trekking

You will have another full day trekking gorillas and you will trek a different gorilla type. Treks either take an hour or four hours– it all depends on where the gorillas are.

And so the time remaining after visiting the gorillas can either be spent hiking in the foothills, relaxing and remembering the trek or visiting local communities as you want.

Day 5: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After having breakfast you will en-route to Queen Elizabeth National Park which is located at the foot of the Rwenzori Mountains, covering over 200 sq km of Rift Valley Savanna, interspersed with patches of forest and crater lakes thus an thought for a safari.

At your arrival, carry out a launch trip along the Kazinga Channel. You will examine the concentration of crocodiles, water birds and hippos which is so amazing.

The bird species are the black bee- eater, 11 types of king fisher, and several species of falcons, eagles and the raptors and many more.

Day 6: Game Drive And Chimpanzee Tracking

You will have an early morning game drive in the Park to see wildlife such as Uganda Kobs, spotted hyenas and the leopard elephants, lions, and many others.

You will head to Kyambura gorge for the chimpanzee trekking in the afternoon.

Accommodation: Dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge /Jacana Safari Lodge / Institute of Ecology (FB)

Day 7: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

You will depart from Bwindi forest to Kibale National Park and have Lunch en-route. When you arrive, you will have a Bigodi Swamp walk in bid to watch the birds and monkeys that live in the swamp.

Accommodation: You will be transferred to Primates Lodge or Ndali lodge on a full board basis to have an overnight.

Day 8: Chimpanzee Tracking

You will be taken to Kanyanchu headquarters for briefing before you head for our chimpanzee tracking after having an early breakfast.

You will also pay a visit to the forest to track chimpanzees. The forest also inhabits 12 other primates which you will view when given enough time such as baboons, vervet monkeys and grey cheeked mangabeys.

Day 9: Depart to Kampala

After having early breakfast we will depart for Kampala with a packed lunch and arrive during the late afternoon.

Accommodation: You will Relax and have an overnight at Sheraton Hotel or Hotel Africana (BB)

Day 10: Kampala City Tour

You will start off with the city tour after taking breakfast, you will also walk through the city centre, the Uganda Parliament, the National Theater, Namirembe Cathedral, visit the Kasubi Tombs: which represent the Ganda Culture, and Bahai Temple. We shall finish the tour with having a look at the culture and history that make up this beautiful country.

Accommodation: Overnight at Sheraton Hotel or Hotel Africana (BB)

Day 11: Transfer to Lake Victoria Hotel, Entebbe

From Kampala, you will en-route to Entebbe for wildlife viewing at Uganda Wildlife Education Center such as vervet monkeys, hundreds of beautiful colored butterflies, indigenous plant species antelope, beautiful debrazza monkeys and a visit to the botanical gardens to appreciate different plant species.

Accommodation: Overnight at Windsor Lake Victoria Hotel

Day 12: Depart

Transfer to Entebbe Airport for departure.
