Kibale forest chimpanzee

With plenty of tropical forest and interesting variety of animals, Kibale National Park (KNP) is one of the most fabulous and outstanding forest in Uganda. It accomodates the largest number of our neighbouring living relative, the harmed Chimpanzee, the the rare L’Hoest monkey plus the threatened red colobus monkey.

This forest covers the highest diversity plus density of primates in Africa summing to 13 species also the pottos, red tailed monkey, bush babies, white and black colonus monkey, blue monkey and grey-checked manangabey black colobus monkeys. The park too hosts about 325 types of birds even the little greenbul, breasted pitta, the African pitta, the black bee eater, the yellow spotted nicator, yellow rumped tinkerbird, little greenbul, breasted pitta, the African pitta and the black bee eater.

There are a couple of attractive mammals like bush pigs, duikers and bats forest Elephants, buffaloes, bush pigs, duikers and bats. A very keen observer may see several colorful varieties of butterflies, amphibians as well as reptiles over 250 tree categories have been registered. The commonest inhabitants of Kibale National Park are the Chimpanzees with about 1,450 individuals are conserved within the park.

Activities in the Kibale include

Chimpanzee tracking
This is the major aim of visiting Kibale Fores national Park. Chimp tracking starts from Kanyankyu at 0800hrs and 1400hrs for the morning session daily and 2:00pm for the afternoon session . Other activities such as Forest hike, Children’s activities, Chimpanzee habituation experience, Bigodi wetland walk, Magombe swamp walk and Primate Walk.
