Namirembe Cathedral
Namirembe Cathedral is also known as Saint Paul’s Cathedral Namirembe and it is found in Kampala the capital city of Uganda. The cathedral is located in Lubaga Division on Namirembe Hill. The Bishop for Namirembe Cathedral is Bishop Samuel Sekadde and he always leads the main services on Sunday at 7:ooam for the English service and 10:30am the Luganda service. The location of the cathedral is Latitude 0.315000 and Longitude 32.559710 and its coordinates are 0°18’54.0″N and 32°33’35.0″E. From central business district that is west of Kampala, the cathedral is 2km. Namirembe Diocese was founded in 1890 and it is marked as the oldest and first diocese in the church of Uganda province, in 1919 to 1967 it served as the provincial cathedral of the church of Uganda in the Anglican communion. Later the cathedral’s headquarters moved to All Saints Church in Nakasero and later it was moved back to Namirembe Cathedral. The cathedral now serves as the provincial Cathedral for the church of Uganda as well as the diocesan cathedral for Namirembe Diocese. The cathedral has memorable places like the grave yard with graves of the cooks who established Mengo hospital and Bishop Hannington a white who was murdered in 1885.
