Mount Gahinga Lodge – Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

Book your accommodation at Mount Gahinga Lodge in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. Mount Gahinga – literally meaning small pile of stones- is a local name for one of the famous three extinct volcanoes that make up Mufumbiro mountain in Kisoro District.

The name gives Uganda’s smallest park meaning. Though it is important to note that Mgahinga Gorilla National Park is one of the only two parks in Uganda known for Gorilla trekking Safaris.

Strategically located outside the park, at the foothills of the Virunga volcanoes, sits a serene modern lodge waiting to be discovered.

This picturesque haven recreates the exclusive ambience of eight stone bandas all given names basing on each of the nearby volcanoes.

These bandas at Mount Gahinga Lodge are inspired by the traditional huts of the Batwa Pygmies with each Banda having a fireplace and either twin or double beds.

The self-contained bathrooms have flush toilets, double vanities and showers with hot and cold running water.

The guests in the bandas are rewarded with views of the volcanoes and lush garden which may take them away from the realization that they are close to apes.

The tour activities offered by Mount Gahinga Lodge are customized for any adventurous tourist, offering memorable Gorilla trekking opportunities through the misty Virunga mountains, trekking the elusive Golden Monkeys, hiking up the dormant volcanoes, and not forgetting exploring the unique Batwa culture.

You will be served with all the dishes that you’re looking for at Mount Gahinga Lodge. Visitors to this lodge are treated with an endless supply of enticing treats in the restaurant as they soak up the views from the surrounding scenery. And also getting to feast on the freshest dishes from Africa and beyond.

And what could be better than having a massage with a splendid view of the volcanoes, or sipping on a glass of wine whilst listening to legendary tales of the Batwa pygmies? Mount Gahinga Lodge will give you just that.
