Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda is bustling with life and joy, and we have the most mind-blowing news to share!
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is one of Africa’s most ancient and biologically diverse rainforests, home to an incredible 400 plant species and providing refuge to some of the world’s rarest wildlife, i.e., the endangered mountain gorillas often seen during Uganda gorilla tours.
The park protects approximately 459 mountain gorillas—almost half of the world’s remaining population, often seen during Uganda gorilla trekking tours and gorilla habituation experiences.
Bwindi is a pioneering gorilla tourism destination, offering visitors the chance to come face-to-face with these majestic primates in their natural habitat during Uganda gorilla trekking safaris.
Two precious baby mountain gorillas have been born in the Bwindi National Park, a safari Uganda UNESCO World Heritage Site, bringing fresh hope and joy to one of the most biodiverse and critically important gorilla conservation areas on the planet.
One of Bwindi National Park’s most beloved gorilla groups- the Nkuringo family– has just added a new gorilla individual born by KWITONDA, bringing the total to 16 members.
Meanwhile, in the Busingye family, the strong new mother BIZULU has given birth to a new gorilla infant as well, raising their group count to 15 individuals.
Both mother gorillas and their newborns are doing well, and park rangers and gorilla conservationists are thrilled by these births.

These births are more than just joyful moments—they are signs of continued success in mountain gorilla conservation, often seen on Uganda gorilla tours.
With fewer than 1,100 mountain gorillas left in the world, every single birth matters. Uganda’s dedication to gorilla conservation strategies and strong community partnerships has enabled the country to lead the way in protecting these magnificent creatures, with Rwanda (home to 12 habituated gorilla families in Volcanoes National Park) and the Democratic Republic of Congo (home to one third of the world’s remaining gorilla population in Virunga National Park) coming in as other mountain gorilla conservation spots.
