
Today, the Cabinet Secretary for Health, Mutahi Kagwe, announced 260 new positive cases of Covid-19 from 3,651 samples tested in the last 24 hours.
This now brings the total of positive cases to 4,738 in the country. Cumulatively, 140,012 samples have been run so far.
Out of the 260 positive cases, the CS noted that 254 are Kenyans and 6 are foreigners, while 176 are males and 84 are females. The youngest case is a 7 months old infant, and the oldest is 90 years.
The new cases are distributed in the counties of Nairobi, 157, Mombasa, 42, Kwale, 15, Kiambu, 14, Machakos, 9, Kajiado, 7, Migori, Nakuru and Busia, three cases each, Homabay, two, Kilifi, Kisii, Kisumu, Kakamega and Laikipia, each has one case.
In Nairobi, the cases are from Dagoretti North, 23, Embakasi South, 21, Langata, 22, Makadara, 17, Embakasi East, Kibra, and Kamukunji, 11 cases each,, Embakasi West, 10, Westlands, eight, Kasarani, and Embakasi North, five cases each, Embakasi Central, and Ruaraka, three cases each, Starehe, Dagoretti South, and Mathare, two cases each.
In Mombasa, the 42 cases are in, Likoni, 10, Changamwe, and Kisauni, nine cases each, Mvita, eight, Jomvu and Nyali, three cases each. In Kwale, the 15 cases are from Msambweni, 13 and Matuga, two. In Kiambu, the 14 cases are from Kiambaa, four, Thika, and Kabete, three cases each, Kiambu Town, and Kikuyu, two cases each.
All the nine cases in Machakos, are from Athi River. In Kajiado, the 7 cases are from, Kajiado East, four and Kajiado North, three. In Migori, the three cases are from Kuria West, two and Suna East, one. The three cases in Nakuru are from, Naivasha, two and Nakuru East, one. All the three cases in Busia are from Teso North.
The two cases in Homabay, are from, Homabay Town, and Mbita, one case each. The one case in Kilifi is at Kaloleni. The case in Kisii is from Kisii Central, while the case in Kisumu is from Kisumu Central. In Kakamega, the one one case is from Ikolomani, and, finally, the case in Laikipia, is from Laikipia East.
The CS noted that on a positive note the government has today discharged 21 more patients from the various hospitals, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1,607 but has also lost two more patients from the disease bringing the cumulative number of fatalities to 123.
