Uganda gorilla safaris present a memorable journey to explore the world’s critically endangered Mountain Gorillas in their natural habitats of Bwindi Impenetrable and Mgahinga Gorilla National Parks.
In a bid to broaden the guest’s exposure to the conservation experience, destination Uganda avails two Mountain Gorilla encounter options which include; Mountain Gorilla trekking and Mountain Gorilla Habituation and the major differences between the two are shared herein.
Time: Under the Gorilla trekking encounter, the travelers on gorilla safari in Uganda are allowed to spend a maximum of 1 hour with the Mountain Gorillas while with the gorilla habituation experience; the guests are allowed to spend 4 hours with these great Ape species.
The duration of the trek is always estimated between 2 – 8 hours depending on the Mountain Gorilla group movement.
Cost: With an extended Mountain Gorilla viewing experience, the Gorilla Habituation is offered at US$1500pp compared to US$600 for Gorilla trekking.
The primate enthusiasts on Uganda gorilla trekking safari find it worth it to pay extra dollars for more 3 hours of Mountain Gorilla viewing.
For gorilla trekking, Uganda goes ahead to extend US$150pp in the low season months of April, May and November but this offer is ending with the year 2017.
Location: Uganda gorilla habituation experience is apparently only done in Rushaga sector to the south of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park while Gorilla tracking is done in all the four regions of Bwindi namely; Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga and Nkuringo and extends to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park.
The destination Uganda apparently remains the only destination where Mountain Gorilla Habituation Experience is undertaken and hence world travelers intending to take up gorilla trekking safaris to Uganda Africa can include it on their bucket list.
