Sport fishing in Uganda

Idealy Uganda is a fishing place and one third of this country is covered by water. We have a great opportunity for sport fishing. Sport fishing occurs on Murchison Falls National Park and Lake Victoria. Nile Perch Fishing on Ugandas Lake Victoria is unlikely not to be true! About 108 kg have been caught below the water falls in Murchison falls. Beside Nile perch, other fish caught include ferocious fighter, barbel and Cat fish of more than 50kg Tilapia, Tiger fish and Ngara (Genus alestes).

At the moment Sport Fishing done at Murchison Falls National Park occurs at the lower sidesof the falls. Fishing is either lower down stream in the pools from a boat or from the rocks on the bank of the river. Getting to the fishing spots is either by walking down the gorge to the river from the top of the falls or by boat from a point further down stream. It is really a steep climb back up and therefore most people go fishing equipped for the day to prevent climbing up in the heat of the day.
