
Kasese residents have been warned of stray leopard in their region.
The senior warden Rwenzori Mountains National Park, announced the warning on Saturday 3rd January 2018, saying UWA (Uganda Wildlife Authority) was tracing the wild animal in order to trap and kill it.
This came after the residents reporting that they found prints of the leopard, which it had left around during one of the rains three weeks ago, indicating that it has been around for long.
This leopard is said to have been seen on Friday by a worshipper who was going for a 7:00 am service at St Paul’s Anglican Church Cathedral in Kamaiba Ward and this person first mistook it for a lion.
One of the residents said that the leopard must have fled from Queen Elizabeth national Park which is partly being burnt by poachers and Queen Elizabeth national park is one the destinations you could add on your itinerary for Uganda safari tour that you are planning because it has got very many activities that are not worth missing.
Usually when the parks are set on fire, animal habitats are destroyed, so this forces animals to go out of the park looking for better habitats.
Now this leopard is suspected to be hiding in bushes around, so authorities have decided to lay the trap around the wetland but residents have been warned not to attack it when they see it first because in self-defense, a leopard can be violent and has the capacity to kill as many as 10 people when attacked.
