The Beauty of Golden Monkey trekking in Uganda

Uganda is known for primate adventures but the most common tours are the Uganda gorilla safari tours. However, there is a new species of primates that is far more beautiful than these giants and that is the golden monkeys.

The Golden Monkeys are beautiful to look at with their nice colors, including long golden hair, orange mixed into it along with its black limbs.

Golden monkeys are small monkeys, very Athletic, move at a high speed and they spend most of their day playing in the bamboo trees in the forests.

These beautiful primates are social animals and they live in big numbers in a collection of nuclear families with a dominant male and several females.

These monkeys are small in size, they are not shy compared to other primates and you can come so close to them on the trek.

Uganda’s only park for Golden Monkey Trekking is Mgahinga National Park. There are more golden monkeys in this park and you can do a 4-hour golden monkey habituation experience in the park as well.

Golden monkey trekking is very exciting and it is not as weary as Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.

The beauty on golden monkey trekking is that golden monkeys do not move around and build new nests each day.

They remain pretty well in the same area, so there is no need over trek trying to locate them as it is done with Mountains Gorilla trekking in Uganda and Gorilla trekking in Rwanda.

Apart from Uganda, Golden monkeys can also be trekked in Rwanda in Volcanoes National Park.Since golden monkeys are found in Mgahinga and Volcanoes National Park, this makes it possible to combine this activity with gorilla tracking or volcano hiking in one of  national park.
